Eco-farming is emerging as the leading sector, when the sustainable development of agriculture in Europe is considered. Thus, in this introductive module, the concept of eco-farming will be explained in relation to the entrepreneurship nature and further development of the agricultural sector within the European Union. The main trends of entrepreneurial activities in eco-farming will be discussed in view with the challenges and constraints when an eco-farm is planned and developed. The notion that eco-farming will be the main challenge to increase and develop the employment and self-employment among young farmers will be provided.
This module will provide detailed information about how an entrepreneurial business is established and how it will survive, grow and develop within the ever-competitive nature of business economics. Tips for the development and sustainability of an entrepreneurial eco-farm will be provided through good practical examples.
Based on the approach that training on entrepreneurship and management will enhance the employability of young eco-farmers, in the present module the trainees will be provided with solid knowledge about the challenges of eco-farming in terms of management, trustworthiness and respect in businesses as well as sustainability.
Besides, the young trainees will be equipped with practical knowledge on sustainable land management in eco-farming, which is regarded as the key component for the successful development of an entrepreneurial eco-farming business.
Furthermore, the potential young entrepreneurs/managers will learn how to build up long term plans for their eco-farms.
The success of an eco-farm is based on good management practices that are directly inter-related with good and proper marketing and financial management. Therefore, the young eco-farmers will be trained on finance options and strategies, how to search for and reach the funding options already present.
Practical tips about negotiation on funding, completing the application procedures and successful interviews with decision-makers will be provided.
Marketing is the key factor for survival and the young eco-farmers will be provided with practical examples on how to improve their marketing skills. Information about e-marketing will be provided to develop the marketing capabilities of the potential entrepreneurs/managers.
In line with the above stated contents, practical knowledge about business planning will enhance the managerial and entrepreneurial skills of young eco-farmers.
Young entrepreneurs/managers need to be equipped with guidance in order to conduct recognition of prior learning, further work based training and mentoring schemes
In this module, detailed and practical knowledge about the legislation of eco-products in the European Union and the partner countries (Bulgaria, Greece, Slovenia and Turkey) will be presented.
Also, tips for reaching the necessary documents and the procedures required for the eco-farming activities will be provided.
In accordance with the legislation information, the young potential eco-farmers will be provided with a checklist for the certification process in the respective partner country (Bulgaria, Greece, Slovenia and Turkey).
Social entrepreneurship is regarded as one of the leading points in increasing the employment of people with some impediments such as people with disabilities, poor people, poor people, minorities, etc.
These underexplored groups of people comprise a significant part of the society. They need to be considered and incorporated into the labour force.
In the present module, the definition of social entrepreneurship will be provided in line with good practical examples in eco-farming activities.
The trainees will be provided with practical information about the establishment of a social eco-farming enterprise business.
